Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Lorenzo Schrödinger is a career minded Starfleet Officer known for his rather hawkish views of Federation policy. Graduating Starfleet Academy with a published paper under his belt and sterling records in physical fitness and security operations, he would eventually end up as commander of Hazard Team on the USS Firebrand. He would distinguish himself during the conflict and now seeks to grab on to the next rung up the ladder of his ambitions. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Mr. Schrödinger is in prime physical shape as expected of Starfleet officers and of members of Hazard Team specifically. He is a Federation patriot, through and through, being the first to jump into its defense be it in the front lines of a hostile boarding action or handing out aid to a stricken people. That very same patriotism has led some to believe he is a warmonger. A crazed man seeking to upend the peaceful nature of Starfleet, to which his response has been the old saying of "if you seek peace, prepare for war". This does not help his case, though it seems he often will change to keep it from truly upending all his other contributions. He is a loyal man who trusts a little too easily and may be swayed to a cause, but when dead set on something, it is very rarely outside of actual orders for him to change course. And in a few instances he had disobeyed orders and had somehow managed to turn a situation around. |

| Ambitions | “I wish to command no ship that does not go fast, for I intend to go into harm’s way” Lorenzo's ambitions is simple. He aims to command a Starfleet vessel with the speed and firepower to protect his beloved Federation. Other than that, he also tries to fight against this tide of apathy and aloofness that has resettled on Starfleet. |
|
| Hobbies & Interests | Lorenzo is interested primarily in old-Earth conflicts, and is a bit of what would've been called "gun nut". He is a collector of antique and replica Human slugthrowers and has been known to have kept a particular one in his transporter buffer while a member of the USS Firebrand's Hazard Team. He also loves entertainment from the same time era, and is an avid modeller, creating dioramas of battles and scratch-building many of his set pieces. His time in holosuites tend to take on a martial theme, eschewing the dramatic plays that seems part and parcel of most Starfleet officers and personnel. When not engaging in particularly worrying activities (according to some), he is often found reading old Science Fiction from the golden years of the genre, brewing coffee or tea, or just staring out the view of space in quiet contemplation. |
| Personal History | Early Life: Lorenzo was born to Jonatan and Alexis Schrödinger aboard the Ambassador-class Starship USS Yamaguchi. His younger brother was born two years later. When he was five years old, both Anton and Lorenzo was left to the care of his maternal grandparents who lived on Earth. It is here that the two retired Starfleet officers turned Vintners would instill a sense of duty and love for the outdoors to both boys. At six years of age though, Lorenzo would be one of the few orphaned children after the disastrous Battle of Wolf 359, being one of the few civilians who was not aboard the larger starships of the Starfleet armada. The effect on the battle would manifest differently in the two boys, with Anton eschewing Starfleet and preferring to follow in the family business. Lorenzo though, would take it as a rallying cry. With the tutelage and insight of his grandmother, who hailed from a long line of servicemen and women tracing back to the pre-United Earth nation of the United States of America, Lorenzo vowed that the Federation would never be defeated in such a manner in the future, and sought to obtain the only way he knew to defeat any enemy of the Federation. Cadet History: -Excerpts from William A. Iqbal’s report on Cadet Schrödinger [Starfleet Academy, Cadet Services, Xenorelations Theory (Instructor)]- Mr. Schrödinger shows a jaded, almost contemptuous opinion on the whole Starfleet, utilizing words as ‘hypocritical modern day equivalent of old-Earth hippies’ in regards to fellow cadets. Raised by his maternal grandparents in an isolated mountain home alongside the Shenandoah River in the North American continent of Earth, subsequent interviews and counseling of the younger man indicated he is deeply affected by the deaths of his parents aboard the USS Yamaguchi at the Battle of Wolf 359. As a cadet, his marks are average, especially in Engineering and Science, while gaining Above Average and Exemplary marks in only a few subjects. Those who know him indicate he is a bit of an eccentric. Normally quiet and reserved, he is friendly to many yet only a few can be said to be his ‘friends’, no doubt to his often hawkish and aggressive stances. His fascination of and worrying obsession with old-Earth conflicts and weaponry has been noted by many of his instructors, and review of his holodeck usage has shown him to be visiting scenes from humanity’s conflicts pre-United Earth and United Federation. He has one published work in circulation, a peer-reviewed paper titled “The Last Warfighter: The Men and Women of United Earth’s Military Assault Command Operations”, a 120 page report and analysis of the often overlooked group’s pre-Federation history. ... ... Asked about his goals, he desires a posting to a frontier or fleet security, hoping to then sharpen his command skills for an eventual crack or attempt at a ship. When pressed on this preference, he paraphrased John Paul Jones, the famous United States naval commander, in saying: “I wish to command no ship that does not go fast, for I intend to go into harm’s way” This alone had gotten him a sort of notorious reputation as a mad cadet hell bent on barbarically embroiling the Federation into meaningless wars of conquest, though it is the opinion of this instructor that the opposite is true. He intends to serve and protect the Federation in the manner he chooses. While many of our cadets go on to become able diplomats and statesmen, very few are able to pull the trigger on a Phaser first to protect the interests of the Federation. A pairing with a capable and patient commander as well as tutelage by a proper non-commissioned officer may help temper this cadet. I see no need to bar him from crossing the stage alongside his peers upon completion of the academy." =============== Update Since Graduation: Mr. Schrödinger was stationed aboard the USS Firebrand just prior to the loss of the Iconian Gateway at the start of the conflict. In the three years of war he has distinguished himself in various fleet battles whenever hostile boarding actions have occurred, and has joined in some ground battles. Near the end of the war, an opening the Tactical section of the USS Eagle was made available and he applied for the position. It is my belief this is just his chance to start crawling his way to a command position. He is in the process of writing a sequel of sorts for his Academy paper, the working title called “Modern Implementation, Historical Mindset: Refining Security Operations Through the Lens of Pre-UFP Military Standards and Combined Arms Principles”. It appears he is taking his previous work on the Military Assault Command Operations group of the United Earth Military and proposing a shift in how Starfleet Security, and in particular, Hazard Team, could be best reoriented towards a more proactive defense of ships, bases, installations, and worlds. No doubt his experience in the conflict shaping and refining his line of thinking. |
